An opinion: The concept that there can be such a thing as a voice of a generation is a sociomythical construct created (largely) by the babyboomers. By designating the voice(s) of their generation, the babyboomers choose an exceptional figure to embody their values and thus perpetuate the myth of their generation’s greatness or relevance. The voices of a generation do not emerge; they are fabrications borne out of narcissism.
