Mama Cass Elliot - “Make Your Own Kind of Music”

tuneage:

The other day my main squeeze and I were rewatching the fifth season of Lost, and she noted how great the musical choices are, remarking that someone should—lightbulb!—compile all the records played on the program. For a show about a mysterious desert island and now about time-traveling, the vintage songs—often played onscreen by a vinyl record—underscore the sense of isolation, both geographic and temporal, and oldies like Petula Clark’s “Downtown” or Willie Nelson’s “Shotgun Willie” take on an ominous, border-line creepy feel in Lost. All of this is a roundabout way of saying that “Make Your Own Kind of Music” is a fantastic and uplifting song that now gives me goosebumps because of Lost.
