- Africa is one giant, homogenous place
- Africa has drums
- Africa is exotic
- Africa is tribal
- (All of) Africa is poor and politically turbulent
- Africa is not mass-produced
- Africa is therefore authentic
- Africa is not luxury
- Africa is patterned and brightly colored
