Ultimately, this is what really vexes me about the “test of time” argument: It takes the “investment” bit of emotional investment almost literally. You should avoid listening to music which won’t stand the test of time because…what? You’ll have wasted your money? Squandered your time? So what— you’re enjoying the stuff now! You’ll look an idiot in five years time? Nobody in their right mind would care!
