The Lonely Island - I’m on a Boat
I had never heard this song outside of the video until today, and wow, I’m converted. Autotune is awesome, even though it will be overused by imitators and make this era sound corny ten years from now in much the same way that the synth-happy imitators of 80’s caused us to collectively mischaracterize that decade as a technophilic wasteland—all glitter, no gold—and worst, as kitsch. It usually takes some strenuous self-positioning to talk about pop music, but I’ll say it: There’s not a bad song on the radio this summer, except for tired rock music (i.e. that Seether song).
