Today in classic video game adaptation news: Saw director to helm Castlevania movie (A.V. Club).
I’ve never played a Castlevania game, but this sounds like bad news.
It’s quite simple. Set the movie in the Castlevania: Symphony of the Night time-period as Richter Belmont, Alucard, and Maria roam the castle in search of Dracula. Maria will fall for the half-vampire Alucard, but he will question coupling with a mortal, given that he must kill his father (DRACULA). Richter will distrust Alucard but want Maria. Hijinx and crises ensue, and we eventually learn about the romance between Dracula and the mortal woman, and witness how her love with a vampire led to her death and Dracula’s own increased wickness.
And boom! A new Twilight movie.
