- B: Yeah, I'm fascinated by the things people say and the value they attach to them. Not quite sociolinguistics, but the culture encoded, embodied and performed by language.
- A: Like what?
- B: Speech variants as class signifiers, like "syrup", "mischievous", "advertisement", "caramel"--oh and "irregardless"! It's like a special, conscious grammar.
- A: So what do you think about language death?
